Πες μας λίγα πράγματα για τον εαυτό σου.
Έχω μεγαλώσει σε ένα περιβάλλον όπου η μόδα έπαιζε πρωταρχικό ρόλο, καθώς οι γονείς μου κατασκεύαζαν είδη ένδυσης. Δούλευα όλα μου τα καλοκαίρια μαζί τους, και ταξιδεύαμε πολύ για τη δουλειά, απ’ όπου απορροφούσα πολλή πληροφόρηση και έμπνευση. Σπούδασα μόδα και fashion marketing στο Λονδίνο, όπου και έζησα για οκτώ χρόνια. Σήμερα, μητέρα δυο παιδιών, δουλεύω σε «παρακλάδι» της σπουδής μου, και αυτό είναι τα υφάσματα, που αφορούν διακοσμήσεις και βεβαίως τη συλλογή διακοσμητικών μαξιλαριών μου στο Etsy.
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I was raised in an environment in which fashion played a major role since my parents run a fashion manufacturing and fashion retailing business. I used to spend numerous summers working with them as well as travelling around the world. That is how the foundations were laid for me to later end up studying Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing in London, where I also lived for eight years. Today, being a mother of two, I run a company specializing in Interior furnishings, Textiles and a cushion collection in Etsy!
Πότε και γιατί άνοιξες το etsy shop σου;
Το καλοκαίρι του 2012 προβληματίστηκα πολύ λόγο της μεγάλης πτώσης του κλάδου μου στην ντόπια αγορά. Ήθελα καιρό να εξαπλωθώ στο εξωτερικό σε νέες αγορές, οι οποίες θα μπορούσαν να δεχθούν πολλές από τις δημιουργίες που προγραμμάτιζα για τη χρονιά εκείνη.
When and why did you open your etsy shop?
During the summer of 2012, I spent time speculating and planning my next business steps. Τhe local market was facing a drastic drop in demand for my specific sector. I had wanted to branch out internationally for a long time, towards a market that was ready and willing to embrace the products I wanted to create.
Εκτός από το να δημιουργείς, με τι άλλο ασχολείσαι;
Με τη συγγραφή μυθιστορημάτων και τη μαγειρική, αλλά κυρίως με το να είμαι μαμά!
Apart from creating things, what do you do?
I love writing, and have already written a novel, as well as cooking! Above all I am a “hands on” mum!
Τι σε εμπνέει και από πού παίρνεις ιδέες;
Δυο πράγματα με εμπνέουν. Το ένα είναι τα υφάσματα. Όταν ανακαλύψω ένα ύφασμα και το ερωτευτώ, γεννιέται αμέσως η επόμενη συλλογή. Το άλλο, είναι οι πελάτες μου, που αν και βρίσκονται σε διάφορες γωνιές του κόσμου, μου δίνουν συνεχώς feedback για το τι θέλουν, και πάνω σε αυτό δημιουργώ τα επόμενα σχέδια μου.
What inspires you and where do your ideas come from?
I am mostly inspired by two things: One is the fabrics. When I come across a material I really like, I instantly figure out the next collection. The other is my customers, who although far away, they provide me with constant feedback as to their likes and dislikes. This way I can imagine and create my next step.
Ποια είναι τα αγαπημένα σου υλικά;
Λατρεύω το βελούδο και το μετάξι.
What are your favorite materials?
It’s got to be velvet and all kinds of silk.
Γιατί κάποιος να αγοράσει κάτι χειροποίητο;
Έχει άλλη χάρη το χειροποίητο. Ξέρεις ότι κάποιος ασχολήθηκε προσωπικά με αυτό και δεν θα υπάρξει ποτέ σε πληθώρα.
Why should somebody buy handmade?
Hand made goods have a certain grace, something that mass produced goods lack, which is the personal “touch” of the person who made it.
Πώς προωθείς την δουλειά σου;
Χρησιμοποιώ πολύ τα Social media. Είμαι φαν του Pinterest αλλά και Twitter και Instagram.
How do you promote your work?
I use Social Media especially Pinterest, which I particularly love, Twitter and Instagram.
Πιστεύεις ότι η Κύπρος είναι ιδανικό μέρος για καλλιτέχνες;
Πιστεύω ότι είναι, ωστόσο ζούμε σε ένα μέρος με πολύ μικρό πληθυσμό ο οποίος αν και θα στηρίξει τον ντόπιο καλλιτέχνη θα ψάξει και σε παγκόσμιες αγορές ταυτοχρόνως.
Do you think Cyprus is an ideal place for an artist?
It is, however, our population is little and therefore not adequate to support an artist fully, considering that shoppers here love to buy internationally too.
Πες μας κάποια από τα αγαπημένα σου βιβλία, ταινίες, τραγούδια/τραγουδιστές και ιστοσελίδες.
Βιβλίο θα’λεγα είναι το House of Spirits όπως και η ταινία του ίδιας ιστορίας. Σε μουσική ακούω πολλά ταγκό και Λάτιν, Λάρα Φαμπιάν, Joe Dassin, και απο Ελληνική, Άλκιστης Προτοψάλτη. Επίσης, μην παραλείψω να αναφέρω ότι περιεργάζομαι πολλά websites για ταξίδια και ξενοδοχεία καθώς έχουν απίστευτους χώρους διακοσμητικά, και αυτό βοηθάει στη δουλειά μου.
Tell us your top books, movies, songs/musical groups and web sites.
It’s got to be the book the House of By Alliende, as well as the movie of the same story. I listen to a lot of Argentinean Tango and Latin music, as well as Lara Fabian, and Joe Dassin. From the Greek artists I prefer Alkistis Protopsaltis. Last but not least, I surf the net for hotel and travel websites and blogs of travel connoisseurs, as these often feature outstanding interiors and this helps me with regard to my work.

Σε δέκα χρόνια... θέλω να υπάρχω ακόμη. Nα δημιουργώ... και να χαίρομαι αυτούς που αγαπώ...
In ten years from now...
Ten years down the line I wish to still be around... To create... And to enjoy precious time with the people I love...
